PEER ASSISTED LEARNING (PAL)

Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a programme which helps first year students settle into college life and develop independent learning skills.  It involves trained student leaders from second, third and fourth year facilitating weekly one hour timetabled study sessions with first year students.

During a PAL session, first year students can ask a PAL leader to help with a variety of issues including:

  • how to get the most out of lectures

  • locating resources in the library

  • practicing presentations

  • tackling assessments and exams

  • other matters of concern, such as financial or accommodation issues.
