Facilitating equality of access and participation for all students

We provide a range of supports and services for those applying to GMIT, and for students attending full-time and part-time courses in the Institute.

The Access and Disability Office welcomes students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Difficulties. Below are the ways which students may avail of our services, and more information about what we provide.

Information for students with disabilities

Access Scholarship Scheme
We have developed a 'Pilot Access and Scholarship Programme' for students attending post-primary schools in Galway and Mayo in the School Support Programme (SSP) under the 'Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools' (DEIS) initiative.

As part of the programme, ten scholarships to the value of 5,000 are provided to successful applicants, in increments, over the duration of the programme of study.

Supports and Services for Members of the Traveller Community or Other Ethnic Minority Groups
Members of the Traveller Community or other Ethnic minorities or support workers or resource teachers should contact the Access Office.

New Programmes and Activities
The Junior Achievement Programme involves schools from Co Galway and Mayo and is focused on assisting young individuals realise their full potential.
