SPEAKERS
The seminar commenced with an excellent presentation from Paula Clarke, a potentialist. Her powerful talk concentrated on you and reaching your potential. It helped change the mindset of those attending to new ways at looking at situations.
This was followed by David Barrett, occupational psychologist and owner of Cut-e Group. His engaging presentation looked at ‘Where are the Good Jobs?’ He highlighted proactive ways for graduates to communicate with employers and also highlighted the grant aid and financial support available to graduates.
Marion Coy, President GMIT, addressed the forum and engaged the audience with some excellent insights in terms of graduate employment.
John Hannon, Head of the Careers Service NUIG, looked at the merits of further study and also conversation courses.
The afternoon session was chaired by Jim Fennell, GMIT Secretary/Financial Controller. This session involved engaging with past successful graduates from GMIT, including Paul Carey, Carey Developments, and Tom Treacy, Head of Operations Allergan Pharmeaucticals, and Stephen Connelly, Goodside Business Solutions. They talked about their career paths since leaving GMIT but, more importantly, they spoke about current opportunities and the best way to get noticed.
Stands
There were a number of stands at the event including West of Ireland Linked In, and its founder Caroline McDonagh, Post Graduate Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, GMIT Lifelong Learning, Harvest Resources, Local Job Creation Initiative which was founded by Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames and Margaret Kearns.
