Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning
When you register for a programme in GMIT, we may be able to give you credit for any subjects you have already passed on another programme in another institute or university.
If you did not complete a programme in another institute, but you passed all or some of the subjects at first year, we can give you credit by exempting you from having to do the subjects you passed: for example, if you passed all the subjects in first year you may be allowed to progress to year two directly. This is called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Accumulation of Credits and Certification of Modules (ACCM)
ACCM is an innovative scheme whereby modules may be studied on a single module basis. Module certificates are awarded to successful participants and credits may be accumulated towards a full award. The Institute also offers some evening programmes through this scheme.
All full-time programmes at GMIT are available on an ACCM basis.
