The Castlebar Campus of GMIT is located on approximately 20 hectares of land less than 10 minutes walk from the center of Castlebar Town. The extensive, mature grounds and elegant buildings provide a pleasant and productive environment for study. As well as attracting students from its immediate catchment area, GMIT at Castlebar draws students from Europe, Asia and North America.
Students at Castlebar enjoy the advantages of being part of a vibrant small student population with a high staff to student ratio. Students have access to excellent computing and videoconferencing facilities and to the newly expanded Enda McDonagh library collection. An active sports programme has been very successful in national and international competitions. Student clubs cater to a range of interests, including culture, outdoor activities, and politics. The campus is a pilot for the third level Green Schools programme, with a special focus on energy efficiency.
