Religious Studies - Mary O'Malley

Mary O'Malley, GMIT Religious Studies graduate

My name is Mary O’Malley. I’m from Galway and I work as a graphic designer. I completed my studies on the BA (Hons) in Religious Studies in May, 2018.

I was initially interested in pursuing studies in the general areas of spirituality, morality and personal development. An online search engine brought up the GMIT course in Religious Studies and that covered many topics that interested me.

There were so many interesting modules. Introduction to Moral Reflection, Media and Ethics, and I really enjoyed studying significant figures such as Immanuel Kant, Thomas Aquinas, Abraham Maslow and Emmanuel Levinas, amongst others.

The BA in Religious Studies was an incredible learning experience, and has been a hugely transformative experience for me, both in my personal and professional lives. The course has enabled me to see the world through a different lens, where I have acquired the tools and techniques to critically analyse and value the mystery of life. I have grown in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

I highly recommend this course. For the future, I intend to continue to write and continue my lifelong learning.
