Why Study Art & Design on a Part-time Basis?
This course provides a programme of study in painting for those who cannot attend college on a full-time basis. The student is introduced to the visual language, materials, and concepts of art practice.

Career Opportunities
Similar employment opportunities are available for both part-time and full-time graduates in the area of painting.

There will be also opportunities to work as practitioners in the fields of painting or subject to further specialisation and experience in the fields of community art, public art, arts administration, art and design education, curation, practice/theory based research and careers linked to contemporary visual art and design culture.

Other Essential Information
Painting is the only area of specialisation offered on the part-time programme.

Application for the part-time programme is made directly to the Institute through the Admissions Office.

The closing date for receipt of applications is usually the first of April each year.

Applicants will be required to present a portfolio of work for assessment and attend an interview towards the end of April or the beginning of May.

Follow-on Studies
Graduates may proceed to the full-time Level 8 programmes BA (Honours) in Fine Art or BA (Honours) in Design in Textiles at GMIT or to other institutions nationally and internationally.
