Why Study Film & Television?

This programme will provide you with a specialised knowledge of the history, theory and practical working of video and film-making, including such specialist areas as production, editing, sound, production design, scriptwriting, and a knowledge of the planning, budgeting, and management requirements involved in shooting and delivering film and video projects.

The work placement in year two of the programme will give you valuable experience of working alongside professionals in the film and television industry.

Career Opportunities
You will be equipped to work in the film and television industry, in careers in the independent production sector, in the State broadcasting services such as RTÉ and TG4, in commercial broadcasting services such as TV3, and in the related audio-visual sector such as corporate video, multimedia, commercials and independent training outlets.

Follow-on Studies
Graduates may proceed to level 8 studies in related areas in other colleges in Ireland or abroad. Graduates have successfully proceeded to such level 8 and Master's degree programmes as Royal Holloway University, London (for producing); Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dublin (for editing and production design), the University of Wales, Newport (for documentary) and the NUIG Huston School of Film and Digital Media (for screenwriting).
