Your Place - Your Future : GMIT Montage

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN HERITAGE STUDIES

Why Study Heritage?
Heritage Studies at GMIT seeks to create an awareness of the variety and richness of our past - natural, built, oral and literary - and how this impacts on the overall consciousness of modern individuals, communities and societies.

The heritage studies programme will provide you with a broad-based knowledge of natural and human heritage through modules of study on archaeology, folklore, genealogy, geography, geology, history, literature, music and natural history.

While the focus is on Ireland, the programme is set within the broader framework of European culture and history, hence the language options that allow for one year’s study abroad.

Programme Modules
Irish, European and International History; Local History & Genealogy; Natural Heritage & Geography; Language & Literature; Folklore; Archaeology; Urban & Rural Field Courses; Tourism; Irish Musical Tradition; Communications; IT; Languages (French, German, Spanish, Gaeilge).
