EMPOWER Programme 2017

Less than a week to the launch of EMPOWER 2017 a new Entrepreneur Programme targeted at females from Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. Instillo wins 'Best Overall IoT Project' in the Ireland Watson Internet of Things (IoT)

Congratulations to iHub Galway client, Shankar Ganesh Jayagopi, CEO of Instillo Ltd., whose innovative solution 'Uber for Oil' won 'Best Overall IoT Project' in the Ireland Watson Internet of Things (IoT) Hackathon by addressing heating oil deliveries problems for both customers and suppliers.  READ MORE

 

RTE takes a 20% Stake in VT Networks

RTE has taken a near 20% stake in VT Networks, which is developing a network to power the internet of things revolution in Ireland. VT Networks, founded by Mark Bannon and Will Ferguson, were participants on the GMIT 2015 New Frontiers Programme. They raised €1.2m in January from investors including Dara O’Mahony (Dome Telecom), Noel Kelly (Kentz Co-Founder), Mark Ryan (former Accenture Careers in Ireland boss) and Patrick Joyce (Suretank Ltd). Galway Start-up Blue Medical Bags €600,000 Funding

Making its London Debut - Spotrack at Donmar King's Cross

Spotrack is the key lighting design company for the acclaimed 'Shakespeare Trilogy', produced by the renowned Donmar Warehouse at a new temporary theatre in King's Cross, London. Westport Software Company Trucking into the Future

Sorcha O’Grady and Jens Hellberg are the people behind TruckScience, a company creating simplified software for the transport industry worldwide.Based in Cedar Park, in Westport, the company had its origins out of a home office in Tonranny in 2011, when it was just the brainchild of the married duo.  With Jens’ background in trucks in his native South Africa and his and Sorcha’s expertise in software development, the couple created ‘TruckScience’.

GMIT Launches Student Enterprise Awards 2016

GMIT students at all campuses are in with a chance to win substantial cash prizes and supports for their start-up ideas and businesses in the GMIT Student Enterprise Awards 2016, details of which were launched this week. Now in its eighth year, the competition is open to students of all disciplines in the Institute’s five campuses across Galway and Mayo.

GMIT Innovation Hub Creating Jobs and Supporting Entrepreneurs

Over one hundred and sixty jobs have been created in Mayo since the GMIT Innovation Hub (iHub) in Castlebar opened its doors nine years ago (2006). Former GMIT iHubs Client Company 'Neuravi' Releases Breakthough Stroke Treatment Device 'EmboTrap' onto European Market
