Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things.

We live in an ever-increasing global economy. Learning a new language opens many doors to new cultures, new experiences, and ultimately new opportunities.

In ATU we offer French, German, Spanish and Gaeilge on a variety of programmes across a variety of disciplines. These languages are delivered from beginner to advance level and are on offer at every stage of the programmes listed below.

Why study a language in ATU?

Languages are available as elective subjects on the following courses at levels 6, 7 and 8 in the following discipline areas: 

Business 

*Available in years 1&2 only but can be taken as an extra elective in years 3&4. 

Tourism, Heritage, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Event Management 

*If you are interested in catering and hospitality, check out the award-winning Eurocatering Language Training programme, a free online language kit for professionals in the catering and hospitality sector (GMIT were the Irish partners in this exciting European project).
