Spanish in GMIT
In GMIT, Spanish is offered from absolute Beginner level, module 1, up to level 8, which students usually take in their final Degree year.
For students of Business or of Humanities, there is the opportunity, for those who wish to take it, of study abroad in either of the two Universities at Zaragoza or Vigo. This usually occurs in third year and it undoubtedly adds an extra edge to the graduate’s CV, as well as giving them the opportunity to develop a good fluency in Spanish.
Students of Hotel and Catering are also offered placement and training in quality hotels in Spain. The placement usually lasts 6 months and, it provides not only excellent language training, but a wonderful opportunity to experience alternative ways of preparing and presenting food, as well as of seeing first hand, an excellent tradition of customer service at work. For those who are thinking of going to work in the US, a fluency in Spanish greatly improves the prospect of acquiring a good job in the catering industry.
