Creative Textiles Entry Requirements: An interest in Textiles is all you need! You will need an image or some of your own work that you find interesting to work from. Content: The course has been designed to satisfy the demand for textile training on a hobby level. Participants are encouraged to choose their own direction and mostly, to have fun! This is a fast moving, hands-on course that requires the student to make every effort to attend every week. The structure of the course is as follows: Introduction to the course. Defining differences in nature of natural and man-made fabrics. Mixing dyes in preparation for next weeks dye class, and outlining the supplies and materials required for the course. · Dyeing of cottons. Exploration of different dye techniques, i.e. tie-dye, etc · Printing of synthetic (man-made) fabrics using heat – transfer method · Batik (Dye-resist) techniques, using your samples from previous weeks · Basic Screen Printing · Special print finishes (foiling, flocking, expandex etc) · Felting · Embroidery and finishing of fabrics. Note: Materials and supplies are not included in the above fee. Students will be advised at enrolment regarding the materials and supplies for the course. |
