Why Study?

This is a one year programme that gives you an entry route into the following five different Engineering degree courses:

  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Energy Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

It will give you the opportunity to discover these five disciplines during first year, before you have to make a final decision on which course is right for you.

So, you can start now, and choose later.

Programme Modules

During this year-long course, you will study:

  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Learning Innovation Skills
  • Electrical Science
  • Engineering in Business
  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Mechanical Dissection
  • Human Physiology
  • Introduction to Energy Systems

At the end of Semester 1, you will choose between two levels of Mathematics and Engineering Science – Fundamental or Standard.

You will also narrow down your modules by choosing between Mechanical Dissection, Human Physiology and Introduction to Energy Systems.

Progression routes

To progress to Year 2 of the B.Eng. in Manufacturing Engineering Design, you need to pass first year regardless of the modules chosen.

To progress to Year 2 of the other four programmes, you need to either:

1. Register for the standard modules in Mathematics and Engineering Science, and pass all your first year modules with 40% or higher in each module.

Or

2. Register for Mathematics Fundamentals and / or Engineering Science Fundamentals, and pass all your first year modules with 70% or higher in the Fundamental module(s).
