Film & TV students win Guth Gafa awards

Two documentaries produced by final year students of the GMIT Film & TV programme have won awards at The Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival in Donegal.The two students, who will graduate later this year, are Michael Ryan from Kilkenny who won second place for his short film “The Polish School “which he directed; and Darragh Moran from Carlow who won third place for his short film “Granddad” which he directed.
This was the first year of the competition which showed student projects from colleges all over Ireland.
“I’m delighted that the work of these students has been recognised in a documentary festival that has both an international prestige and reputation”, says Donal Haughey, GMIT documentary tutor. “ All credit to the students and the staff on the programme.”
