GMIT holds Open Events for Leaving Cert and mature students

Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) continues its series of open information sessions over the next few weeks with the two Galway city based campuses, the Centre for Creative Arts & Media (CCAM) and the Dublin Road campus, opening their doors to Leaving Certificate students and the public this Saturday, 21 January from 10am to 12.30pm.

The Letterfrack campus open morning takes place next Friday, 27 January, from 11am to 1pm and the GMIT Mountbellew campus Open Day will take place in March, on Wednesday 1 March from 10am to 3pm.

These events are open to all secondary school students as well as parents, teachers and mature applicants. Information will be available on all CAO programmes including those that can be applied for directly through the college’s admissions office, postgraduate courses, and lifelong learning/part-time courses offered in all campuses.

Courses are available in Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Film & Documentary/Design/Contemporary Art, Furniture Design/ Manufacture & Technology, Heritage, Humanities, Nursing/Health Sciences & Social Care, Tourism and Arts, Science and Computing, and Outdoor Education.

Information will be available on student supports, services and finance including SUSI talks, and Access options. Staff and students will also be on hand to talk to prospective students and visitors about student life and study in GMIT. A shuttle bus will operate between the two city based campuses on Saturday morning, 21 January.

A special talk for mature students will take place at the Galway campus on Saturday 21 January at 11am in Theatre 995, new building.

Visitors to the Letterfrack campus open day on Friday, 27 January, are advised to book places in advance as the event includes tours of the facilities, the furniture gallery, CNC demos and lab demonstrations. Separately, GMIT’s Business School will hold an Open Evening on Accounting programme on Thursday, 9 February, from 6.30pm to 8pm. It will include information on technician, undergraduate, postgraduate and professional accounting courses available at GMIT.
