Public event includes career talks, presentations and workshops

Over 40 organisations are to take part in this year’s GMIT Mayo Graduate Careers Fair on Tuesday, 9 February (11am to 2pm). This year’s event offers a range of free workshops and presentations outlining opportunities for graduates at home and abroad.

Employers, professional bodies, third-level colleges and recruitment companies will be among those setting up stands at the fair exhibition in St Mary’s Hall on campus. Organisations that have already confirmed their attendance are CIMA, CPA Ireland, Chartered Accountants, CPL Healthcare, Arcon Recruitment, EOP Graduate Programme, Grant Thornton, The Adventure Islands, Employability Mayo, USIT, Voluntary Service Ireland, Open University, NUI Galway, Sligo IT, nursing recruitment groups, and others.

GMIT Careers Counsellor Michelle Kerins O’Brien says this year’s programme is more extensive than previous years:  “We will have a number of workshops taking place throughout the morning on topics such as 'International Voluntary Work', 'Tips on Advancing Your Career Whilst in College', 'Teaching in the UK', and 'IT Sales'.

“It really is a great opportunity for our final year students, graduates and members of the public to learn about new and emerging trends in careers, and the areas where demand is growing for graduates such as the ICT and Finance sectors.”
