Outdoor Education Graduate - Celine King

What I do: GMIT Tutor and Entrepreneur

Celine graduated with a first class honours degree in B.A (hons) in Outdoor Education course. She is currently working in GMIT Castlebar as a subject specific tutor. This role involves acting as a support to students who require an extra hand with different subjects on their course. She has also been involved in the start up of a new business 'Straight Talking", where she teaches presentation, communication and interview skills to adults.

 How the course helped me

Celine, who started her time in GMIT Castlebar as a Foundation studies student, found the Outdoor Education Degree course interesting, varied and challenging. She says “The Outdoor Education course at GMIT Castlebar allowed me to improve my confidence, through its use of hands on experiences including climbing, walking and kayaking. However, the Outdoor course is not just about adventure activities. The other modules involved in the course were relevant and practical. "In regards to my long-term goal of lecturing, the Outdoor education course has given me a very solid base to work from." I would recommend the Outdoor Education course to anyone who has an interest in the fields of the environment, adventure activities and education.
