| Parking Management at GMIT Dublin Road Campus |
Since 11th May 2009 a proportion of spaces at the Institute have been zoned for students and staff, (see map) with a capacity of 380 for students and 380 for staff. Short term parking is facilitated in a new Pay and Display zone for some 60 cars with a parking charge of €1.50 per hour and a max stay of three hours. Under the new policy, any car that is not parked in a designated car parking space is liable to be clamped at a declamping charge of €50. Any car not displaying a valid parking permit or P&D ticket will also be clamped. This car parking policy was formulated after extensive consultations with representatives from all sections of the staff and student body who represented your interests. Staff and students may apply for parking permits from APCOA the parking management company. Permit application forms are available from a box marked GMIT PERMIT APPLICATION FORMS located at the old reception and SU or online from APCOA. APCOA will be on campus at the old reception issuing permits from Monday 7th September to Friday 11th September. Additional dates will be announced in due course to facilitate demand. To collect permits, you must have your employee/student ID number, insurance cert, driver’s license and proof of address (3 month old bill). Payment should be made online or can be made through the GMIT branch of AIB. From 14th September vehicles will be liable to be clamped if not displaying the appropriate permit for the designated parking area. If you do not have a parking permit you may park in the pay and display car park for a parking charge of €1.50 per hour and a max stay of three hours. Students and staff who do not need their vehicle as part of their work duties, living within a defined zone of the campus, circa 1000 - 1100 meters, will not be entitled to a permit as this is deemed to be within a reasonable limit of the campus to use alternative transport or to walk in 15 minutes or less. |
