PARKING
Dublin Road Campus
A permit system is in operation in the Dublin Road campus, with a permit required between 08:30 - 18:00, Monday to Friday.
The car park map shows the zoned areas:
Student parking in the Green Zone (student permit required)
Staff parking in the Yellow Zone (staff permit required)
Shared staff and student parking in the Orange Zone (staff or student permit required)
Pay & Display in the Blue Zone (available to everyone)
Visitor parking in the Pink Zone (invited guests only - see below)
Disabled spaces are located close to main entrances and users must display the EU Blue Badge.
Invited guests can use spaces in the Pink Zone, provided this has been pre-arranged with a GMIT staff member and that reception staff have been advised. On arrival, visitors may use the call intercom and the barrier will be raised for entry. If this area is full, the Building & Estates office will issue a Day Permit which entitles the user to park in the Yellow or Orange Zones. Otherwise, invited guests may use the Pay and Display spaces - charge is Euro 1.00 per hour, with an all-day rate of Euro 5.00.
Visitors on a business or courtesy visit can use the Pay & Display spaces. Charge is Euro 1.00 per hour, with an all-day rate of Euro 5.00.
Group or School Visits/Open Days
Event managers are required to give prior notification of at least 5 working days to Carparking.
Permits for staff and students
Staff are required to apply for annual parking permits from the parking management company APCOA by 1st September each year. Student permits are distributed on campus each September. A permit costs Euro 10. While a permit entitles the holder to parking space, it does not guarantee the holder a parking space on campus or at the overflow car park at Galwegians Rugby Stadium.

Clamping
Vehicles not displaying the appropriate permit for the designated parking space are liable to be clamped. The release fee for clamped vehicles is Euro 50. An additional call-out fee of Euro 30 is charged after 8pm. GMIT is not responsible for the clamping of illegally parked cars - this is carried out by a wholly independent company. Clamped vehicle owners have the right to appeal. View the Clamping Appeal Form (PDF, 55KB).
Vehicles are parked on the campus at the owner's risk.
