VISITING

Castlebar Campus

Transport
The Castlebar campus is located adjacent to the N5 national road on the western side of Castlebar town. The train station, on the main Dublin-Westport line, is a 10-15 minute walk from campus. Ireland West Airport Knock, with flights from Dublin and abroad, is 25 miles (42 km) from Castlebar. Public and private bus services are just a 5 minute walk from the campus.

Parking
A permit system is in operation on the Castlebar campus. Permits can be obtained by staff and students on campus each September, with the payment of 10 euro and proof of insurance. The permit does not guarantee a parking space, but allows the bearer to park on campus if space is available. How to apply for a parking permit

A small number of pay and display spaces are reserved for visitors to the campus.

Clamping
Vehicles not displaying the appropriate permit for the designated parking space are liable to be clamped.  The release fee for clamped vehicles is Euro 50. GMIT is not responsible for the clamping of illegally parked cars - this is carried out by a wholly independent company. Clamped vehicle owners have the right to appeal.

Vehicles are parked on the campus at the owner's risk.
