Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology sees its future as a regional resource in the promotion of regional economic and social growth. To this end, the Institute will look outwards and seek to respond to the needs of its region through its programmes of applied research and development, its establishment of a regional innovation hub, its support for entrepreneurship and the provision of relevant and current professional development for the workforce.

To achieve these missions, Research and Innovation has been selected as one the five Institute strategic pillars.

The Office of Research, Development & Innovation supports the development and delivery of the Institute's Research Strategy. This office manages all aspects of externally funded research at the Institute, as well as recording profiles of research groups and centres, including areas of expertise, information on published work, consultancy work undertaken and funding awards. We are also responsible for the development of research alliances with industry and other organisations in addition to managing both Innovation in Business Centres (IiBC) in Galway and Castlebar, and the commercialisation of research.
