Why study Event Management with Public Relations?
The aim of this award is to provide relevant professional education for students on all aspects of the planning, marketing and management of events and public relations programmes in this multifaceted industry.

Programme Modules
This programme includes a number of modules - Introduction to the Events Industry, Events Planning, Festivals and Special Events, Hospitality Operations, Conference and Meeting Planning, Introduction to Public Relations, Public Relations Techniques, Public Relations Management, E-PR, Tourism Studies, Corporate Hospitality, Marketing, Introduction to Accounting, and International Language.

Career Opportunities
Graduates with this qualification can expect to find employment in a variety of event, PR and entertainment enterprises including conference centres, convention centres, charitable non-profit organisations, national and regional tourism organisations, hotels, public relations firms, event management agencies, sports and leisure centres, community development organisations, arts and music, private companies, multinationals, public sector organisations and financial institutions.

In addition, there are opportunities for graduates in consultancy, self- employment, research and postgraduate education.

Other Essential Information

Work Placement

  • Upon completion of exams in year two students undertake an accredited 30 week industrial placement. This placement is organised by the LINKS office in conjunction with the student.

  • If students are considering an international career the school would encourage students to study an International language during their three years of study and to complete their international placement in a location that supports the development of the language.

The School has extensive international links with hotels, tourism organisations and educational organisations. In addition the school is an active member of various hotel school associations including the Association of European Hotel & Tourism schools (AEHT) and the Council for Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE).

Follow-on Studies
It is possible to pursue studies at BA honours level in the school. Students who are successful in their final examinations will be admitted directly to the final year of the BA (Honours) programme. An opportunity also exists to transfer to the BB honours in Business in the School of Business.
