Heritage Studies - Sarah Jane McCrann

I made the choice to study Heritage Studies based on my interest in history, geography & archaeology. My post-GMIT work experience benefitted greatly from studying additional subjects like communications, IT, multimedia & financial planning. I gained employment in two fast-growing web companies, something I did not envisage when I began my third-level education. Since finishing my degree I have also decided to complete a Diploma in Spanish. The Heritage Studies course at GMIT proved to be immensely enjoyable & has been incredibly important for me so far in my career. I graduated with First Class Honours in 2011. Although this was a very troubling time economically, I have been lucky enough to have found myself in employment where I can exercise daily the skills & tools that I obtained from GMIT. I will always be thankful to the lecturers for opening my eyes & going the extra mile to help in every way they could. As well as this, the social & campus life of GMIT is incredibly active. Moving away from home to a new place where you don’t know anyone can be daunting, but with such an active social calendar there is something that will suit everyone.
