2D Studio Practice 2 (Painting/Photography/Printmaking)

Description

This module places emphasis on developing skillsets in Painting, Photography and Printmaking. Practical workshops introduce the students to materials, skills and techniques that will broaden their knowledge and understanding of two dimensional media whilst also expanding their experience of art making and studio practice. Material processes and experimental approaches to image making are explored through a number of interlinked projects that relate to art history and practice.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the range of materials and processes used in two dimensional image making and their appropriate usage along with a basic understanding of the skills and techniques involved in painting, photographic and printmaking practices.

  2. Understand and carry out good workshop practice with an awareness of health and safety issues pertaining to studio and workshop.

  3. Exercise visual enquiry, experimentation and creativity to a set brief.

  4. Articulate and synthesise ideas and concepts within studio practice and group critiques.

  5. Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of a wide range of contemporary art practice.
