Cáit Noone is the Vice President for International Engagement and Head of the College of Tourism and Arts. She joined Galway Mayo Institute of Technology November 2007 having worked overseas for sixteen years. During her time at GMIT she has held a number of posts including Head of Department for Hotel and Tourism Management and Head of the Hotel School.
Cáit has worked in Higher Education since 1993 and brings significant international experience to GMIT. Prior to returning to Ireland Cáit was the Dean of the first International Hotel Management School in China – Les Roches Jin Jiang International, a joint venture collaboration between Laureate Education and the Chinese government organisation Jin Jiang.
Prior to moving to Asia, Cáit worked for Les Roches School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, a leading international Swiss hotel school. Cait has been involved in various research projects in the tourism sector in Ireland, UK, Switzerland and Asia. Her area of research interest includes many sectors in the tourism industry and teaching and learning.
Cáit is a member of the Irish Hospitality Institute. She is also represents the Institute on the Galway 2020 Steering Committee and the Galway European Region of Gastronomy Steering Committee. She was recently appointed to the National Hospitality Skills Oversight Group. In addition, Cáit is a member of The Taste Council of Ireland and is the education spokesperson for this group. She is an external examiner in a number of higher education Institutes and is a board member of COPE Galway.
She holds a BA (hons) in Education, Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a Masters in Business Administration.
