Adventure Tourism

Description

This module provides an analysis of the principle characteristics of adventure tourism, the diverse forms that it takes, associated tourism products, the industry structure and the attributes of the consumer and their motivations.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the evolution of adventure tourism and profile of adventure tourism products

  2. Understand the management and policy issues influencing the demand and supply of the adventure tourism product

  3. Assess the environmental, economic, touristic, climatic and social impacts of adventure tourism to a destination

  4. Discuss examples from the domestic and international adventure tourism industry to highlight examples of best practice

  5. Experience first hand participation in adventure tourism in Ireland
