Applied Research Project - Applied Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Practice

Description

The aim of this module is to support students through a process of applied scholarly research, developing their abilities to plan, conduct and report the conclusions of an independent, critically evaluated research study or change management/quality improvement intervention, which relates to the contemporary issues within the specific subject area of of Applied Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Practice.

This module guides students through a process of strengthening and developing thier expertise in Applied Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Practice through the use of refelction, enhanced knowledge generation, reflexivity and research-based practice. The module requires the presentation of a thesis detailing the conceptualisation, design, conduct, and analysis of one of the following: i)  a substantial research project, ii) a substantial service improvement project within the students specialist field/service area or organisation, iii) a substantial management intervention project within the students' specialist field/service area or organisation.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of a topic within the professional context or specialism.

  2. Apply an appropriate methodological approach to address the proposed aims and objectives.

  3. Demonstrate ability to structure and adhere a project delivery timeline, collaborating effectively under guidance in a peer relationship with the dissertation supervisor.

  4. Critically appraise and evaluate the evidence base within the professional context or specialism, drawing conclusions and delivering recommendations relevant to the relevant professional field.

  5. Formally present an independent, critically considered submission to the appropriate scholarly standard. 

  6. Formally present and defend research findings, drawing conclusions and delivering recommendations as relevant to the relevant professional field.
