Biological Science for Fundamental Nursing Knowledge and Skills

The aim of this module is to provide the student with a necessary preliminary instruction in biological and clinical science relevant to nursing practice. The module will orientate a conventional systems based analysis of the subject matter into an architecture more congruent to models of nursing care. The module is designed to dovetail with the Fundamental Nursing Knowledge and Skills module and will therefore instruct and be instructed by the students developing knowledge in this area.

1. Describe human anatomy fundamental to nursing practice

2. Describe human physiology fundamental to nursing practice

3. Explain common pathologies and diseases

4. Outline clinical investigations fundamental to nursing practice

5. Explain commonly used categories of therapeutic drugs
