Why Study?

This is a cross disciplinary leadership programme. The overall aim of this programme is to provide the knowledge, skills, and competencies for sustainability leadership in businesses.

The objectives of the programme are to:

1. Provide a critical awareness of the complex social, economic, and environmental challenges facing society (and business) and the inter-relatedness of these challenges;

2. Provide the knowledge and skills to understand environmental, social, and economic impacts and develop evidence based, transparent sustainability reporting;

3. Enable critical self-reflection on values, leadership, and the requirements of leadership for sustainability;

4. Provide an opportunity to apply sustainability concepts and frameworks to their professional context.

Cross disciplinary collaboration is considered critical in education for sustainable development and sustainability. It is planned that the programme would be delivered with disciplinary inputs from social and environmental perspectives as well as from the business discipline. The proposed programme will be delivered by a blended design of lectures, on-line interaction, face-to-face components, and self-directed learning. The blended model of delivery plans for 4 face-to-face/residential workshops of 1.5 days over the semester. This also provides an opportunity for active engagement with learning and collaboration with others, supported by the programme virtual learning environment. If, due to public health restrictions, face-to-face workshops are not possible, these will be delivered through remote learning and in accordance with the Institute COVID-19 contingency plan.
