Description

This module introduces students to the general concepts of Business Intelligence in terms of how data sources are captured, transformed, modelled and visualised to give actionable insights. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Differentiate between unstructured, semi-structured and structured data and their related data capture implications.

  2. Identify and evaluate a range of key HRM data sources in terms of structure, content and quality.

  3. Import data into Excel, transform it and create Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts using the context menu features of Analyze and Design.

  4. Examine the principles of star schema relational data modelling.

  5. Import a variety of data sources into Business Intelligence software and apply data transformation techniques to meet user requirements.

  6. Construct Data Models and develop and use effective Measures, Key Performance Indicators, Visualisations and Dashboards to guide HRM improvement activities.
