Business in Accounting Graduate - Clodagh Dunne
I entered GMIT Mayo Campus in 2008 straight after completing my Leaving Certificate as I got my first choice in Accounting and Financial Management. I chose this course because I felt that it would provide me with a solid background in the accounting sector and by May 2012 I had graduated with an Honours Degree in Business in Accounting. A month later I was delighted to be offered a job with IFAC Nationwide Accountants.
During that same summer, I registered with CPA Ireland. As a result of the subjects I had studied, I received 10 exemptions, which led me straight into P1 Level, with only two exams to sit - Auditing and Corporate Reporting - in order to move on to P2 Level. I also entered the CPA Facebook competition in summer 2012.
By December I had met with a panel of judges and been awarded a €5,000 bursary. I can say wholeheartedly that it is because of hard work and excellent guidance from GMIT Mayo Campus lecturers that I have remained dedicated to accountancy, have a good job and am continuing my studies
