CAD 2/BIM

Description

This module will build on the the skills and competencies acquired in stage one, to learn to represent commercial buildings graphically using computer software and hardware, with 2D/3D details, sketch design and general arrangement drawings, while being introduced to Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an ABILITY to use CAD applications for the production of commercial building drawings, from sketch design through to general arrangement and detail design solutions, in both 2D and 3D.

  2. Demonstrate an ABILITY to draft using correct conventions and a KNOWLEDGE of professional quality assurance practice requirements for managing hard and soft copy drawings, drawing registers and drawing issue sheets.

  3. Read and UNDERSTAND what is represented graphically and take what information is needed from the drawing.

  4. Demonstrate an AWARENESS of the power of contemporary hardware and software as applied to design and detailing, including BIM.
