Why Study?

The Level 9 Postgraduate Diploma in Building Information Management (BIM) and Digital Construction has been developed in close collaboration with construction industry professionals to provide a flexible, multidisciplinary and industry-focused programme that seeks to address the current competency and skills gap in the construction sector both nationally and in a global context. The programme is designed to embrace experiential and collaborative learning opportunities by continuously embedding evolving BIM best practice through an academic-industry reciprocal learning framework.

The construction sector is currently undergoing a significant transformation, catalyzed by targeted BIM mandates and strategies, which are challenging stakeholders to review their business models and working practices to move away from adversarial and fragmented supply chain relationships to more collaborative ones that will lead to improved efficiencies across the whole building lifecycle and supply chain. Participants on the course will discover a focused set of mandatory and elective modules that cover all stages in the design-construction-operation process, to address the competency, capability and skills requirements of the multiple supply chain stakeholders.

The programme learning outcomes are focused on the ability to: understand and facilitate collaborative and multidisciplinary working in a BIM and digital environment on all project types; critically evaluate the role of BIM and digital tools in delivering value, performance and minimizing the environmental impact across the whole lifecycle; catalyze organizational change and transition towards BIM Level 2; critically evaluation and apply digital tools in practice on site; explore emerging trends and possible future applications i.e. augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence etc. The programme will be delivered in blended form using an innovative competence-based knowledge approach to facilitate flexible and self-regulated learning to address the upskilling and reskilling needs of geographically dispersed learners both nationally and internationally.
