Cost Studies 1

Description

This module relates to construction costs. The principle focus of study is the estimation, cost planning and analysis of construction costs. The module brings students through the various stages of cost estimation and cost planning for building projects. Specific areas of study included, project appraisal, cost factors (items that influence construction costs), design economics, sources of cost information and elemental cost planning.  

Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop an appreciation of Design economics and how it may influence construction costs.

  2. Understand the principles of cost planning and cost reporting of a project from inception through to completion including the use of standard published forms for cost planning.

  3. Demonstrate an appreciation of the sources of cost data, uses and limitations.

  4. Assess cost information and apply to the calculation of Insurance Valuations for building project

  5. Develop effective and efficient self directed study skills and group working skills
