You will network with many food businesses and innovation and entrepreneurial practices will be embedded throughout the course.
This is your time to show off what you know about food and where your passion is.
This course can also help you bring your ideas to the marketplace and create a business opportunity for you.
Work placement is a key component of the programme in year one and two.
This engagement with industry may help you define your future role in the exciting global food industry.

Over the three years of this course students will study a variety of modules that will develop new skills and knowledge essential for the world of food enterprise.

Graduates of this programme will have numerous career opportunities depending on where your food interests rest.
Graduates with suitable post-qualification experience may expect to fill positions in the Hospitality Industry as qualified chefs (at various grades) in the hotel, restaurant, health and catering sectors.
Graduates will understand the market needs of the hotel and catering industry and will have the capacity to drive industry forward by developing innovative and imaginative solutions.
They will have excellent selling and customer care skills and in essence will be ideas people informed by their ability to conduct up to-date market research.
Alternatively, graduates could work in food product development assisting in the steering of pilot products through the development process from initiation to launch including:
- Carrying out recipe trials
- Taste panelling
- Customer consultation and presentation
- First production
Graduates working in food product development roles may also need to liaise with all functions including Marketing, Sales,Production, Maintenance, Administration, and Purchasing and Technical as appropriate in order to progress live projects.
Level 7 graduates may progress to the final year of the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Food Innovation and Enterprise.
At the end of Year 1, there is a 12-week work placement in an Irish hotel or other approved property, organised by the LINKS office in conjunction with the student.
At the end of Year 2, students must undertake a 30-week industrial placement. This placement is organised by the LINKS office in conjunction with the student. Students must complete this placement in order to progress to the next year of study. Students are supported and monitored during their placement.
These work placements allow students to experience at first hand the challenges, demands and rewards of working in this exciting and challenging industry.
Finally, all students on this programme have an opportunity to engage with Erasmus+ studies abroad. This may entail a semester of study overseas or a supported European work placement.
