Description

Introduction to domestic construction. The module will include the design detail and documentation of a timber framed garden room and a two-storey dwelling to production drawing stage

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements pertaining to building and buildings for domestic construction

  2. Consider aesthetic and design intent in the application and integration of technical and regulatory design factors in the development of technical design solutions for domestic construction

  3. Demonstrate knowledge of the necessary verbal, graphic and model making skills to communicate effectively in the context of domestic construction

  4. Generate technical design solutions for domestic construction projects

  5. Reflect on the influence of the Architectural Technologist on sustainability, universally design and the natural environment in the design of domestic buildings

  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the application of architectural technology to design and construction practice addressing topics that include sustainable principles, techniques and methods used in relation to materials, components, services and finishes relative to domestic construction projects
