Description

This module introduces students to bogland habitats , freshwater ecosystems, the colinisation of Ireland by flora and fauna and Irish animals.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learners will gain an understanding of the features associated with three main natural habitats in Ireland and will gain a basic level of knowledge of Irish wildlife

  2. Learners will gain environmental interpretation and identification skills that will enhance outdoor education programmes

  3. Learners will understand the stages by which Ireland was colonised by flora and fauna

  4. Learners will understand the conservation issues relevant to Irish habitats

  5. Learners will extract and retain meaning from and field trips

  6. Learners will generate a deeper conceptual understanding of the individual components that have interacted to form the Irish landscape

  7. Learners will develop basic fieldwork techniques
