An introduction to Irish trees, woodlands, seashores and environmental protection.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learners will gain environmental interpretation and identification skills that will enhance outdoor education programmes

  2. Learners will be able to explain the process that have affected the formation of some of the major natural habitats in Ireland

  3. Learners will develop basic fieldwork techniques

  4. Learners will appreciate the structures and organisations involved in environmental protection including the impact of national and EU legislation

  5. Learners will understand a selection of conservation issues relevant to Irish habitats

  6. Learners will extract and retain meaning from case studies and field trips

  7. Learners will gain an understanding of the features of the Irish seashore and woodland habitats
