Experiential Learning External Environment - The Journey

Description

This module seeks to provide the student with the knowledge, skills and understanding to plan and lead expeditions that provide a context for personal and social development. In addition this module seeks to familiarise students with the concepts of 'connection to nature' and pedagogy of place.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Articulate a broad understanding of the effect of the external environment on the learner with particular focus on 'connection to nature' and pedagogy of place.

  2. Evince an understanding of how learning experiences are created in the transaction between the learner and their environment.

  3. Plan and evaluate rich learning experiences through thoughtful use of experiential programme design in a journey or expedition context.

  4. Demonstrate the skills and understanding needed to facilitate in a journey/expedition context while learning to enhance these skills through discussion, tutor and peer feedback, and reflective writing.

  5. Recognize the consequence of their practice for the environments in which they work and have an understanding of sustainability within this context.
