Forensic Chemistry 2

Description

This module will give the learner the opportunity to apply their scientific training to a number of key areas in Forensic Chemistry. Specialists areas of study will include fire and explosion analysis as well as a series of labs covering analytical techniques relevant to forensic investigation.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Examine the chemistry of combustion, arson, high energy materials, explosions, firearms use and the forensic analysis of related evidence.

  2. Evaluate detection methods for analysing combustible materials and high energy materials and residues of combustion and explosions

  3. Appraise the chemistry of ink and paint and use appropriate techniques to analyse evidence based on these materials

  4. Critically assess various analytical techniques for forensics chemical analysis in light of the requirements of modern forensic investigation
