Forensic Legal Studies

Description

The aim of this module is to introduce the Irish legal System and the role that the Forensic Scientist plays within it.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of law in society and identify the sources of law and their relative positions of authority within the Irish legal system.

  2. Learn and demonstrate an understanding expert witness testimony including the principles of forensic reporting, identifying the key issues to report and the role of probability.

  3. Explain and differentiate the role of persons in legal proceedings

  4. Identify the rules which govern the relevant aspect of the law of evidence.

  5. Trace the development of criminal principles and apply criminal principles to factual scenarios.
