2. Non-Attendance at Ceremony

If you are unable to attend the conferring ceremonies, your award will be conferred “in absentia”.

The parchment will be posted (by registered post) to the mailing address you have provided to us, within two weeks of the ceremony.

If you cannot attend, you MUST complete this Notification of Non-Attendance Form.

There is a €20 charge for this service and this must be paid into GMIT’s bank account (details are on the form). 


3. Robe Hire and Collection - GMIT Galway

It is GMIT policy that all graduands must wear graduation robes for the ceremony. Robes must be pre-booked and pre-paid.

Please book your robes online at from Monday, 30th September, 2019.

The cost of hiring a set of robes is €40. It is recommended that you collect your gown the evening before your graduation or at least an hour before the ceremony.

Robing will take place in the Salt Spa Lobby in the Galmont Hotel Galway.

Robes may be collected and returned on:

  • Wednesday 6th November from 4pm to 8pm
  • Thursday 7th November from 8am to 8pm
  • Friday 8th November from 8am to 6pm


4. Photography - GMIT Galway

Class Groups and Special Award Recipients: Class groups and Special Award recipients/sponsors will be taken at the stage immediately after the close of the ceremony.

Press Photographers: Press photographers may also be present on the day.

Framing Service: A parchment framing service will be available adjacent to the photography. Cost is €15

Individual/Family Photographs: The official photographers for the conferring will be located in the Veranda Lounge (ground floor).  Graduates are advised to deal only with the official college photographers.  Photographers will be working throughout the day so you can avail of refreshments after the ceremony and avoid queues. 5. Parking & Transport - GMIT Galway

The Railway Car Park at the Galmont Hotel & Spa is a public multi-storey car park.

Therefore, you may encounter delays/difficulties in finding car parking space. Please allow for this, and general traffic congestion (increased by the conferrings), in your travel arrangements.

6. Refreshments - GMIT Galway

Refreshments for graduates and guests will be served in the hotel lobby and Atrium Bar immediately after each conferring ceremony.


7. Graduate Survey - GMIT Galway

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) requires all third level graduates to complete a graduate survey nine months after they complete their course.

Please update your details here from 15th October 2019. 

The survey will be emailed to you in April 2020.
