  1. evaluate demand for rural tourism and its various niche markets

  2. review and discuss structures, processes and challenges in rural tourism development.

  3. evaluate issues relating to access to the countryside as it relates to rural tourism and countryside recreation.

  4. evaluate the role of heritage interpretation in rural tourism

  5. review the policy framework underpinning rural tourism at European level and in Ireland
