Culinary Arts - Aisling Rock

My passion for food and cooking has now become my career thanks to the fantastic team in The Galway International Hotel School. It has opened up so many doors for me and afforded me many new and exciting opportunities, such as representing Galway and Ireland in the European Young Chef award in Barcelona and going on to win this award in 2018. In 2019 I was invited to join the international jury to judge the 2019 competition. Since graduating from GMIT in 2019, I have been working as Demi Chef de Partie at the Dromoland Castle Estate, Co. Clare.

Event Management - Michelle Walker

I chose ATU (formerly GMIT) as I wanted to study for a degree in Event Management with Public Relations but was also seeking a course that had practical elements to it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had some exciting opportunities such as being invited to Portugal on behalf of “Republic of Experience” on a FAM trip and organised by the Lisbon Tourism Board. I gained many contacts on Work Experience whom I still engage with. My plan is to now hopefully, continue my studies in ATU Galway studying Event Management with Public Relations to Level 8.

Heritage Studies - Verena Roe

Heritage Studies at GMIT exceeded the expectations I had when submitting my application. I was encouraged & guided, & on completing the course feel that I have received a very rounded education. The subjects we studied linked into the timelines we were learning about; from the Ice Age to present times. Research & academic writing skills were an integral part. I enjoyed each module & the lecturers were enthusiastic, engaging & encouraging. Most importantly, I gained confidence in the knowledge that I truly learned, understood & enjoyed heritage. I wish I could start the course all over.
