Human Rights and Equality

Description

This module aims to prepare students to work in solidarity with and across marginalised communities to identify and address inequality, discrimination and social exclusion towards gaining concrete improvements in their quality of life and the progressive realisation of human rights.

Learning Outcomes

  1. have a knowledge international legal frameworks for human rights and environmental justice.

  2. demonstrate an awareness of equality and equal status legislation and the remedies available under these Acts.

  3. have an awareness and knowledge of the role of civil society and the power of civic engagement, understanding participatory methodologies and how they can promote social change and equality.

  4. apply human rights principles in practice, including the support and protection of children and vulnerable adults.

  5. be able to probe and question existing inequalities and explore possible legal remedies.
