Industrial Design 3

Description

This module develops the learner skills in the design of products for a specific user market. It applies design thinking and the product development process to projects with an emphasis specific user requirements. Product safety considerations are highlighted. The ergonomics of the products are also rigorously examined. The projects will also include consideration of structural issues and alternatives. User testing is integrated as part of the project delivery.

  1. Develop a product design specification for a particular user/market requirement

  2. Apply design thinking and product development process to deliver new product designs for specific uses

  3. Integrate product safety planning and design in safety features into new products

  4. Implement and test ergonomic design features in products

  5. Create physical 3D models and prototypes for specific uses; safe, ergonomic and structurally sound
