Innovative Architectural Technologies

Description

This module focuses on the analytical assessment of innovative and sustainable performance and detailing solutions for a building project of medium complexity. Continuous assessment of this module is integrated with the Detail and Design Studio 4 project and research topics.

Learning Outcomes

  1. DEMONSTRATE a detailed understanding of the application of architectural technology to design and construction practice addressing topics that include sustainable principles, techniques and methods used in relation to materials, components, services and finishes relative to building design

  2. EXPRESS an analytical approach to developing appropriate, unique and innovative structural and material choices for use in the project work.

  3. DISPLAY a detailed knowledge of specific innovative and sustainable construction elements of the project work through detailed drawing and report writing.

  4. DEMONSTRATE an advanced understanding of natural daylighting design strategies using BIM analytical software.

  5. USE ADVANCED SKILLS to conduct research and complete a Life Cycle Assessment report for an element of the project work.
