Integrated Project

Description

The integrated project embodies, in varying proportions, the importance of teamwork, collaboration and planning that are required on a civil engineering project to delivery transparency and value for money in order to aid the decision making process for the project stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Design engineering project which requires an understanding of the theory, methods and concepts pertaining to the strategic assessment of the project to meet the required brief.

  2. Use advanced skills to research and design, as part of a group, suitable, cost-effective and innovative solutions for an unfamiliar and complex civil engineering design and construction project.

  3. Orally and visually present the project from concept to design and appraise considerations which influence the costs, designs and construction details of a civil engineering project.

  4. Apply appropriate software, codes of practice and standards and analytical programmes to evaluate an appropriate response to civil engineering problems.

  5. Plan, programme, lead and monitor the group’s activities, which are required to implement the project

  6. Exercise appropriate judgement through analysis and investigation using a variety of diverse civil engineering technologies and choose an appropriate solution for use in project work.

  7. Critically analyse the financial and economic viability of various construction proposals and demonstrate commercial awareness.
