Intercultural Studies

Description

Intercultural Studies students are introduced to different cultures; their differences and similarities.  Students are introduced to intercultural issues arising from various contexts of research and practice. Intercultural Studies offers a theoretical and practical framework to enhance students’ knowledge and competence in intercultural issues, such as diversity, racism, prejudice, conflict, inclusion, participation, and interdependence while also reflecting on their own culture.  It provides learners with an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for active, positive participation in a complex, diverse and rapidly changing society and to appreciate inclusiveness within society. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. A conceptual framework for understanding analysing intercultural issues such as diversity, racism, prejudice, conflict, inclusion, participation, and interdependence.

  2. Use their knowledge and skills for active, positive participation in a complex, diverse and rapidly changing society and to appreciate inclusiveness within society. 

  3. Understand and respect cultural diversity.
